Harutomo Kosho

Harutomo Kosho is a Japanese politician and lawyer currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Born in Kunisaki, Oita, he graduated from Waseda University's Faculty of Law and established his career as a lawyer, eventually serving as the chairman of the Oita Bar Association. After an unsuccessful bid in 2016, he was elected to the House of Councillors in 2022. Politically, he is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and has expressed support for constitutional reform, including the inclusion of the Self-Defense Forces in Article 9, and has taken conservative stances on social issues such as opposing selective separate surnames for married couples and same-sex marriage.
