Gabriel Acevero

Gabriel Acevero is an American politician and activist serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for District 39 since 2019. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, he immigrated to the United States as a teenager and became a prominent organizer for social justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and labor issues. A member of the Democratic Socialists of America, Acevero is known for his advocacy in criminal justice reform, including the passage of 'Anton's Law,' and his consistent opposition to partisan gerrymandering. He has been a vocal proponent of universal single-payer healthcare, environmental justice, and immigrant rights throughout his legislative career.
