Gebran Bassil is a Lebanese politician who has served as the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement since 2015 and as a Member of the Lebanese Parliament for the North III district since 2018. A former Minister of Telecommunications, Minister of Energy and Water, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, he is a prominent and controversial figure in Lebanese politics. Bassil is the son-in-law of former president Michel Aoun and has faced significant public criticism and U.S. sanctions related to allegations of corruption and his political alliances.
