Marwan Hamadeh

Marwan Hamadeh is a Lebanese journalist and politician who served as a long-standing member of the Lebanese Parliament and held multiple ministerial positions, including Minister of Education, Minister of Telecommunications, and Minister of Economy and Trade. A member of the Progressive Socialist Party, he was initially an ally of Syrian influence in Lebanon before becoming a prominent critic following the passage of UN Resolution 1559. Hamadeh survived an assassination attempt in 2004 and resigned from his parliamentary seat in August 2020 following the Beirut port explosions, citing government ineffectiveness.
