Giovanni Capecchi

Giovanni Capecchi is an Italian politician, academic, and literary critic who has served as the Mayor of Pistoia since May 2026. An associate professor of Italian literature at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, he holds a doctorate in Italian studies and has published extensively on 19th and 20th-century literature. Capecchi began his political career in the 1990s, serving as a city councilor and later as an assessor for culture and tourism in Pistoia. He was elected mayor leading a broad center-left coalition.
