A member of the Progressive Conservative Party, he has held various cabinet positions under Premier Doug Ford, including Minister of Northern Development and Minister of Indigenous Affairs. Prior to his provincial career, Rickford served as a federal Member of Parliament for Kenora and held several ministerial roles in the cabinet of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, including Minister of Natural Resources. Before entering politics, he worked as a nurse and a lawyer in remote First Nations communities.
