Hüseyin Olan

Hüseyin Olan is a Turkish politician and pharmacist who has served as a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey since June 2023. Born in Bitlis in 1959, he graduated from Ege University in 1986 and worked as a pharmacist before entering politics. He previously served as the mayor of Bitlis from 2014 to 2016, a tenure marked by his efforts to promote cultural recognition, such as renaming a street after William Saroyan. Olan has been a long-time member of pro-Kurdish political movements and was imprisoned for several years following an investigation into terror-related charges before his release in 2022.
