Hans Vijlbrief

Hans Vijlbrief is a Dutch politician and economist currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the social-liberal party Democrats 66 (D66). Before his legislative career, he held significant roles in the Dutch civil service, including serving as Treasurer-General at the Ministry of Finance and as State Secretary for Finance and later for the Extractive Industries in the fourth Rutte cabinet. An expert in economic policy, he previously held academic positions at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam. Throughout his career, he has focused on tax administration reform, European economic policy, and addressing the childcare benefits scandal.
