Hester Jackson-McCray

Hester Jackson-McCray is an American politician serving as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives for District 40. Elected in 2019, she made history as the first African American to represent DeSoto County in the state legislature and became only the third African American to represent a majority-white legislative district in Mississippi since the Reconstruction era. A nurse by profession and a resident of Horn Lake, she has been noted for her advocacy and personal commitment to her community while raising her grandchildren.
