堀江 ひとみ

Hitomi Horie is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the Nagasaki Prefectural Assembly. Born in 1959, she grew up on Narushima Island and later worked as a caseworker for the Nagasaki Democratic Medical Practitioners' Association, an experience that shaped her political belief that healthcare access should not be determined by financial status. Before her election to the prefectural assembly in 2007, she served four terms on the Nagasaki City Council. Throughout her career, she has focused on social welfare, child medical subsidies, gender equality in education, and environmental issues, including opposition to the Ishiki Dam project and casino development in Nagasaki.
