Hokuto Hoshi is a Japanese politician and physician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Born in Koriyama, Fukushima, he graduated from Toho University's School of Medicine and previously held significant roles in medical administration, including serving as the chairman of the Hoshi General Hospital and as an executive board member of the Japan Medical Association. Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, he contributed to regional health management efforts in Fukushima. Elected to the House of Councillors in 2022, he currently serves as the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party's Fukushima Prefectural Chapter. Hoshi supports constitutional reform, including the explicit mention of the Self-Defense Forces in Article 9, and generally aligns with conservative policy positions on national security and defense spending.
