Hou You-yi

Hou Yu-ih is a Taiwanese politician, criminologist, and former police officer who has served as the Mayor of New Taipei since 2018. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished career in law enforcement, serving as the Director-General of the National Police Agency from 2006 to 2008 and as the president of the Central Police University. He previously served as the deputy mayor of New Taipei City starting in 2010. A member of the Kuomintang, Hou was the party's official candidate for the 2024 Taiwanese presidential election, where he ultimately conceded to Lai Ching-te. He holds a Ph.D. in crime prevention from Central Police University.
