Huguette Bello

Huguette Bello is a French politician from Réunion who has served as the President of the Regional Council of Réunion since 2021. A former teacher and school principal, she entered politics in the 1980s and became the first woman from Réunion elected to the French National Assembly in 1997, where she served until 2020. Throughout her career, she has been a prominent figure in local governance, serving multiple terms as the mayor of Saint-Paul. Bello is the founder of the left-wing party For Réunion and is known for her advocacy on education, professional development, and social equality.
