Ilan de Basso

Ilan de Basso is a Swedish politician of Assyrian descent who currently serves as a Member of the Riksdag. Born in Turkey in 1969, he moved to Sweden as a child and later built a career in public service, working as a policy analyst for the Swedish Public Employment Service and the NGO Save the Children. Before his election to the national parliament in 2022, he served for 11 years as a municipal councillor in Jönköping, focusing on education and labor market issues. He also briefly served as a Member of the European Parliament between 2021 and 2022.
