Ilaria Cucchi is an Italian politician and civil rights activist currently serving as a member of the Senate of the Republic. She gained national prominence following the 2009 murder of her brother, Stefano Cucchi, leading a decade-long campaign for justice that resulted in the successful prosecution of those responsible. A dedicated advocate for human rights, she founded the Stefano Cucchi Association and has been a vocal proponent for the introduction of the crime of torture into the Italian penal code. She was elected to the Senate in 2022 as a candidate for the Green and Left Alliance, representing the Florence constituency.
