Irena Georgieva

Irena Georgieva is a Bulgarian tourism businesswoman and politician currently serving as the Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria since February 2026. A sociology graduate from Sofia University, she has extensive experience in the tourism sector, having led the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators and Travel Agents and chaired the European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Associations. Before her ministerial appointment, she served as Deputy Minister of Tourism from 2015 to 2026 and represented Bulgaria on the executive board of the European Travel Commission. Her policy focus includes sustainable tourism development and enhancing Bulgaria's competitiveness as a global tourist destination.
