Jacques Fernique is a French politician and educator who has served as a Senator for the Bas-Rhin department since September 2020. A member of the Les Écologistes party, he previously served as a regional councillor for Alsace from 2004 to 2015 and has been a municipal councillor in Geispolsheim since 2007. Before his full-time political career, he worked as a teacher of history and literature at the Louis Couffignal vocational high school in Strasbourg. Throughout his career, Fernique has been a dedicated advocate for environmentalism and social justice, having been involved in student movements and various ecological political initiatives since the 1980s.
