James O'Day

James J. O'Day is an American politician and social worker serving as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in urban studies and management from Worcester State University in 1983. Prior to his legislative career, O'Day spent 24 years working as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Social Services. He was first elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in a special election in April 2007 to represent the 14th Worcester district. In addition to his legislative duties, he serves on the Steering, Policy, and Scheduling Committee. He resides in West Boylston with his wife, Marybeth Murphy, and they have four sons.
