James Timpson, Baron Timpson, is a British businessman and politician who has served as the Minister of State for Prisons, Parole and Probation since 2024. Before entering government, he was the long-time chief executive officer of the Timpson Group and a prominent advocate for the employment of former prisoners. He has chaired the Prison Reform Trust and founded the Employment Advisory Board network to improve rehabilitation outcomes. In July 2024, he was appointed to the House of Lords as a life peer following his ministerial appointment in the Starmer ministry.
