Jan Scharfenort is a German politician and member of the Landtag of Saxony-Anhalt. Born in 1972 in Osterburg, he pursued a career in finance and business, holding qualifications as a business economist and tax specialist. Before entering state politics, he worked as an insurance broker and managing director of a fee-based consultancy. Scharfenort joined the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in 2017 and has served as a member of the Burg city council and the Jerichower Land district council since 2019. He was elected to the state parliament in 2021 via the party list and currently serves as a member of the Committee on Finance.
