JD Chaplin is an American politician serving as a member of the South Carolina Senate for the 29th District since 2024. A member of the Republican Party, he secured his seat after defeating the Democratic incumbent in the 2024 election following a mandatory recount and a subsequent protest that was eventually withdrawn. Chaplin has pledged to support Congressional term limits and serves on several committees, including the Judiciary and Transportation committees. Prior to his election to the Senate, he was selected as a member of the 2024 South Carolina Electoral College.
