Jean Leising

Jean Leising is an American politician serving as a member of the Indiana Senate, representing the 42nd District. She first entered the state Senate in 1989, serving until 1996, and returned to the chamber in 2008. Throughout her tenure, she has chaired the Agriculture Committee and advocated for policies including the mandatory teaching of cursive handwriting in elementary schools and the regulation of animal welfare groups. A farm owner and former nurse, Leising has also been a prominent voice on issues such as agricultural zoning, public health, and state redistricting.
