A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the Attorney General of Louisiana from 2016 to 2024 and as a U.S. Representative for Louisiana's 3rd congressional district from 2011 to 2013. Landry's political career has been defined by his conservative stance on social issues, including his strong opposition to abortion and his advocacy for policies such as the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools. Before entering politics, he served in the Louisiana National Guard and worked as a police officer and sheriff's deputy.
