Jerry McNerney

Jerry McNerney is an American politician and businessman currently serving as a member of the California State Senate for the 5th district since 2024. Previously, he served as the U.S. Representative for California's 9th and 11th congressional districts from 2007 to 2023. A mathematician by training with a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico, McNerney worked as an energy consultant and wind turbine executive before entering politics. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal proponent of renewable energy, environmental protection, and government investment in artificial intelligence, while maintaining a focus on veteran affairs and economic development.
