Jesse Arreguín is an American politician serving as a member of the California State Senate for the 7th district since 2024. Previously, he served as the mayor of Berkeley, California, from 2016 to 2024, and as a member of the Berkeley City Council from 2008 to 2016. An self-described progressive, Arreguín has focused his career on housing affordability, environmental sustainability, and social justice. He was the first Latino mayor of Berkeley and has been a prominent advocate for denser residential development and climate-conscious policy.
