Jian Omar is a German-Kurdish politician and a member of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin. Born in Qamischli, Syria, in 1985, he moved to Germany in 2005 and studied political science at the Free University of Berlin and social sciences at the Humboldt University of Berlin. Before his election to the state parliament in 2021, he worked for human rights organizations and as a parliamentary advisor in the Berlin-Mitte district. He represents the Alliance 90/The Greens party and focuses on migration and integration policy.
