Jim Carlson is an American politician serving as a member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, he represents District 52, which encompasses Eagan, Mendota Heights, Mendota, and parts of Burnsville in Dakota County. First elected to the Senate in 2006, Carlson served until 2010 and was subsequently re-elected in 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2022. He remains an active legislator in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
