Jim McMahon is a British Labour and Co-operative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Oldham West and Royton since 2015. Before entering national politics, he had a significant career in local government, serving as the Leader of Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council from 2011 to 2016. During his parliamentary career, he has held several frontbench roles, including Shadow Secretary of State for Transport and Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Known for his advocacy on youth engagement, he has campaigned for lowering the voting age to 16. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2015 for his services to the community in Oldham.
