Joani Reid is a British politician serving as the Member of Parliament for East Kilbride and Strathaven since 2024. Born in Glasgow, she is the granddaughter of trade unionist Jimmy Reid and previously served as a councillor in Lewisham for eight years. Reid was elected as a Labour candidate but resigned the party whip in March 2026 following the arrest of her husband, David Taylor, on suspicion of spying for China. During her parliamentary tenure, she has served on the Home Affairs Select Committee and chaired the All-Party Parliamentary Group Against Antisemitism.
