Joe Cervantes is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the New Mexico Senate for the 31st district since 2012. A member of the Democratic Party, he is widely regarded as a moderate to conservative Democrat and currently chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee. Before his tenure in the Senate, he served in the New Mexico House of Representatives from 2001 to 2012. Cervantes is an alumnus of the University of New Mexico and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law.
