A member of the Liberal National Party, he has represented the electorate of Surfers Paradise in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2004. Previously, he served as the Leader of the Opposition from 2009 to 2011 and held various ministerial roles in the Newman government. Before entering politics, he worked as a dentist.
