John Steenhuisen

John Steenhuisen is a South African politician currently serving as the Minister of Agriculture since July 2024. A prominent figure in the Democratic Alliance (DA), he previously served as the Leader of the Opposition from 2019 to 2024 and as the Federal Leader of the DA from 2020 to 2026. Steenhuisen began his political career as a municipal councillor in Durban in 1999 and later served in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature before joining the National Assembly in 2011. He is known for his centre-right, pro-business political stance and his role in facilitating the DA's participation in South Africa's Government of National Unity.
