John T. McDonald III is an American politician serving as the member for the 108th District of the New York State Assembly. A member of the Democratic Party, he represents a district that includes Cohoes, Rensselaer, and parts of Albany and Troy. Before his election to the state legislature in 2012, McDonald served as the Mayor of Cohoes from 1999 to 2012 and as the President of the New York Conference of Mayors. A pharmacist by trade, he graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy in 1985 and managed his family's business, Marra's Pharmacy. In the Assembly, he has held leadership roles including Chairman of the Governmental Operations Committee.
