José M. Serrano

José M. Serrano is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Senate, representing the 29th District since 2004. A lifelong resident of the South Bronx, he previously served on the New York City Council from 2001 to 2004. The son of former U.S. Congressman José E. Serrano, he has held various leadership roles in the Senate, including Chair of the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation. Throughout his career, he has focused on legislative priorities such as criminal justice reform and community development.
