Juan Samy Merheg

Juan Samy Merheg Marún is a Colombian politician of Lebanese descent who serves as a Senator of the Republic of Colombia. First elected to the Senate in 2010, he succeeded his brother, Habib Merheg, and has been successfully reelected in subsequent cycles. A prominent political figure in the department of Risaralda, he is a member of the Senate's Fourth Commission. Throughout his legislative career, he has been involved in significant policy debates, including a 2018 proposal to unify presidential, gubernatorial, and mayoral terms.
