Judith Kaleta is an American government official currently serving as the Deputy General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Transportation, a position she has held since 2012. She briefly served as the Acting U.S. Secretary of Transportation in January 2025. Throughout her career, she has held various legal roles within the Department of Transportation, including Chief Counsel of the Research and Special Programs Administration. Before her federal service, she worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division of the Illinois Attorney General's office. Kaleta is a graduate of DePaul University and the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, and she is an active member of the American Bar Association.
