He was elected as a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly representing the Macherla Assembly constituency in June 2024 following the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, having previously contested the seat in 2004 and 2009. He comes from a political family, as the son of former MLAs Julakanti Nagi Reddy and Julakanti Durgamba.
