Kaneez Fathima

Kaneez Fathima is an Indian politician serving as a two-term Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Gulbarga North constituency in Karnataka. A member of the Indian National Congress, she entered politics following the death of her husband, the late minister Qamar-ul-Islam. Fathima is known for her advocacy on social issues, including her prominent role in mobilizing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and her vocal opposition to the hijab ban in educational institutions. In 2024, she was appointed chairman of the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited.
