Karen Kwan is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Utah State Senate representing the 12th district. She assumed office in 2023 after being selected to replace Senator Karen Mayne and currently serves as the minority whip. Prior to her tenure in the Senate, Kwan served in the Utah House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. An associate professor of psychology at Salt Lake Community College, she holds an Ed.D. in educational leadership and policy. Her legislative focus includes tax policy, such as support for the Child Tax Credit, and advocacy for the Equal Rights Amendment.
