Luz Escamilla

Luz Escamilla is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Utah State Senate, where she has held the position of Minority Leader since 2023. Born in Mexico and raised there before moving to the United States in 1996, she has built a career focused on public service and business development. Escamilla previously served as the director for the Zions Bank Business Resource Center and was appointed to the Utah State Office of Ethnic Affairs in 2005. Throughout her legislative career, she has been recognized for her work on immigration reform, including the proposal of innovative accountability measures, as well as her advocacy for environmental monitoring and family rights. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has been active in various community and health policy organizations.
