Karl Markut

Karl Markut is an Austrian politician and construction technician who currently serves as a member of the Carinthia Landtag and as the mayor of Sankt Georgen im Lavanttal. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with the SPÖ and later the Team Stronach, before joining Team Carinthia. Markut previously served in the Carinthia Landtag between 1997 and 1999 and again from 2004 to 2009. In 2016, he was convicted of embezzlement and fraudulent bankruptcy, though he has remained in his mayoral office despite the legal proceedings.
