Katja Maurer

Katja Maurer is a German politician and member of the Landtag of Thuringia, representing the party The Left. Born in 1991 in Makinsk, Kazakhstan, she moved to Germany and later pursued studies in cultural and social anthropology at the University of Vienna and political communication at the University of Erfurt. Before her election to the state parliament in 2019, she worked as a staff member for Thuringian parliamentarians. Since 2025, she has served as the co-chair of The Left in Thuringia, and she maintains a significant role in local politics as a member of the Erfurt City Council.
