Takaaki Katsumata is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives, currently in his sixth term. Born in Numazu, Shizuoka, he graduated from Gakushuin University and later completed studies at Keio University's Graduate School of Business Administration. Before entering politics, he worked at Suruga Bank. Throughout his career, he has held significant roles including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Environment, State Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives. Politically, he is known for his conservative stances, supporting constitutional reform, the exercise of the right of collective self-defense, and the revision of the Murayama and Kono statements, while opposing the introduction of a selective dual-surname system for married couples.
