Kelly Cassidy is an American politician serving as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 14th district since 2011. A Democrat representing Chicago's North Side, she is widely recognized for her role as the chief sponsor of legislation that legalized the adult use of cannabis in Illinois. Throughout her tenure, she has been a vocal advocate for reproductive rights, restorative justice, and criminal justice reform. Before her legislative career, she worked for the National Organization for Women and served as a legislative liaison and program director in the Cook County state's attorney's office.
