Ken Akamatsu is a Japanese politician, businessman, and former manga artist who became the first manga artist to be elected to the National Diet in 2022. Before entering politics, he gained international fame for creating popular manga series such as 'Love Hina' and 'Negima! Magister Negi Magi,' and founded the digital distribution platform J-Comic Terrace to support authors. As a politician, he serves as a member of the House of Councillors and has held the position of Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Akamatsu is a vocal advocate for the protection of freedom of expression, particularly regarding the regulation of creative content, and actively promotes 'manga diplomacy' to enhance Japan's cultural influence abroad.
