Born in 1954 in Okinawa, he previously served as the Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs in the Kishida Cabinet. His career includes serving as a member of the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly and holding various government positions, including State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and State Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications. A member of the Liberal Democratic Party, he has been a prominent figure in Okinawan politics, following in the footsteps of his father, former Okinawa Governor Junji Nishime.
