Kazuchika Iwata

Kazuchika Iwata is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives, currently in his sixth term. Born in Saga City, he graduated from Kyushu University and initially worked as a secretary to management consultant Kenichi Ohmae. He began his political career in the Saga Prefectural Assembly, where he served three terms. Since his election to the national Diet in 2012, he has held several government positions, including State Minister of Cabinet Office, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense. Politically, Iwata is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and has expressed support for constitutional revision, including the explicit mention of the Self-Defense Forces in Article 9, and the possession of counterstrike capabilities. He has also maintained conservative stances on social issues, opposing the introduction of selective separate surnames for married couples and same-sex marriage.
