Tetsushi Sakamoto is a veteran Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Liberal Democratic Party. Born in 1950, he began his career as a journalist at the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun before entering local politics as a member of the Kumamoto Prefectural Assembly. Since his election to the national Diet, he has held several high-profile positions, including Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Minister of State for Special Missions, where he focused on regional revitalization and measures against loneliness and isolation.
