坂本哲志

Tetsushi Sakamoto is a veteran Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Liberal Democratic Party. Born in 1950, he began his career as a journalist at the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun before entering local politics as a member of the Kumamoto Prefectural Assembly. Since his election to the national Diet, he has held several high-profile positions, including Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Minister of State for Special Missions, where he focused on regional revitalization and measures against loneliness and isolation. Sakamoto is known for his conservative policy stances, including opposition to selective dual-surname systems and same-sex marriage, and he currently serves as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Budget.
