Takashi Yamashita is a Japanese politician and a six-term member of the House of Representatives, currently serving as the Chairman of the Committee on Cabinet. A former prosecutor and legal bureaucrat, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and later earned a master's degree from Columbia Law School. Yamashita served as the 100th Minister of Justice, during which he oversaw significant legislative reforms, including the creation of new residency statuses for foreign workers and the strengthening of measures against cyberbullying. Known for his legislative expertise, he has been recognized for his work on numerous member-sponsored bills, including the Anti-Ticket Resale Act and the Revenge Porn Prevention Act. Politically, he is a proponent of constitutional reform, including the addition of an emergency clause, and maintains a focus on regional revitalization and the promotion of the live entertainment industry.
