Akihisa Nagashima is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A graduate of Keio University and Johns Hopkins University, he began his career as a researcher and policy aide before entering national politics. Initially affiliated with the Democratic Party of Japan, he served in various roles including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister. Known for his conservative stance on security and foreign policy, he joined the Liberal Democratic Party in 2019. Throughout his career, he has held key parliamentary committee positions, including chairing the Committee on Security and the Special Committee on Abductions by North Korea. He is also active in sports administration, currently serving as the president of the Japan Skating Federation.
